W.S. Merwin, U.S. Poet Laureate, to speak at LRUW.S. Merwin, who was named U.S. Poet Laureate on July 1, will give a free, public reading at Lenoir-Rhyne University on Nov. 2 as part of the university’s 2010-2011 Visiting Writers Series.

Osprey Point Retreat & Conference Center Welcomes a Special "Odd Couple" Osprey Point Retreat & Conference Center, Maryland's Eastern Shore premier small meeting destination, recently held a contest to name a nesting pair of Ospreys located on the conference center grounds. The winning names are Oscar & Felicia, thanks to the entry suggestion made by Janet Replogle, a recent visitor to the conference center.

4th Annual Drive for Kids will make stop at Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch |

Sylvan Dale will be one of the stops along this year's Drive for the Kids sponsored by the Denver Round Table. 2010 will mark this 4th annual event to benefit kids with 100% of net proceeds to benefit the Children's Hospital Sports Program with some smaller proceeds to also benefit other selected charities. The 4th Annual Drive for the Kids will be a fun, social, noncompetitive event through the beautiful Colorado Rockies! Membership in a car club is not required and this event is open to all makes and models of vehicles.

Hofstra University Receives Accreditation for School of Medicine |

This morning, I will join North Shore-LIJ Health System Chief Executive Officer Michael Dowling and Medical School Dean Lawrence G. Smith, MD, to announce that the School of Medicine has obtained the necessary accreditations to recruit its first class of 40 medical students. The School of Medicine will be accepting applications as of July 1, 2010, in order to enroll an initial class of 40 students who will begin their studies in summer 2011, creating New York State’s first new allopathic medical school since 1963.
